Folate is especially important during pregnancy to help support fetal brain and spinal cord development.* Women should take a folate supplement during the first 3 to 4 weeks of pregnancy, so it's important to take if you are thinking of starting to grow your family.* The active form of vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) has been included because the recommended dietary allowance of vitamin B12 is higher for pregnant women.* Vitamin B12 is also essential for the functioning of the nervous system and for the production of red blood cells.*
