What sets Live Wise Naturals Omega 3-6-9 apart is it’s unique blend of DHA to EPA and the inclusion of what’s been called a “game-changer” in supplements and food, Stearidonic acid (SDA). SDA has been dubbed a “pro-EPA” omega-3 acid because it by-passes a limiting biochemical step in the conversion of ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) to EPA. SDA converts to EPA 5-times more efficiently than ALA. And because SDA is more stable it is less prone to oxidation.

Many body systems rely heavily on DHA and less on EPA. EPA is not as critical in high amounts as DHA easily converts to EPA when required. DHA is absolutely required for the development of the sensory, perceptual, cognitive, and motor-neural systems during the brain growth spurt while EPA’s importance for the brain’s development is unclear.
DHA and EPA can provide a degree of “biochemical backup” for each other. Although EPA may not be readily converted to DHA, DHA is readily converted to EPA. The limitations imposed by the sluggish conversion of EPA to DHA suggest that intake of pre-formed DHA is needed to assure adequate supply to the brain, cardiovascular system, and other vital organ systems.
